
Design and Construction of an Army Reserve Center, Orangeburg, SC
Design/Build of a 300-member Army Reserve Center (ARC). Primary facilities include the construction of an ARC training building, Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS), and unheated storage building. Buildings are of permanent construction with reinforced concrete foundations, concrete floor slabs, structural steel frames, masonry veneer walls, standing seam metal roof, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing, mechanical systems, security systems, and electrical systems. The site is located in Orangeburg, SC. Supporting facilities include land clearing, site preparation, paving, fencing, and extension of utilities to serve the project.
Accessibility for the disabled was provided. Physical security measures were incorporated into design including maximum standoff distance from roads, parking areas, and vehicle unloading areas. Berms, heavy landscaping, and bollards were used to prevent access when standoff distances could not be maintained. Sustainable Design and Development (SDD) and Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct05) features were provided. Air Conditioning (Estimated 86 Tons) Project received 2 LEED® Silver Certificates.
