Duplin County Office Complex (35,000 sf) houses a majority of the county offices including the Cooperative Extension Agency, the Farm Services Agency, and the Soil and Water conservation Agency. This facility contains a large meeting/training room with a state of the art lighting/dimming system. There is also an extensive kitchen used for training and demonstrations. Although the design of the facility was initiated prior to LEED initiatives, many of the systems in this complex follow the LEED concepts. The project HVAC system utilizes a central hydronic heat pump concept. The lighting system for the building utilizes state of the art energy conservation concepts. At the time of its construction this building was part of the largest project ever funded by the USDA. The office complex, a sixteen month project, was built in conjunction with the Duplin County Arena and became what is now known as Duplin Commons.
