To improve patient services, a new Gastroenterology Area, Out Patient Psychology, D.T.C.A., Hemodialysis, Pathology, Emergency Dental Room and a renovation of the Main Nurse Station in the E.D. The hospital also renovated and relocated Central Registration, Pre-admitting, Staff Dining Area (the Tiffany Room), Human Resources, Accounting and had a new Pneumatic Tube System installed to improve patient service.
The Doctor’s Lounge was renovated and a new Doctor’s Dictation area was improved. The hospital relocated its medical supply business (Down East Medical) to a facility on site that was also going to be utilized as storage for the equipment and materials that were currently being stored in the basement area of the main facility. Relocating the medical supply business required the redesign of the storage facility so as not to lose floor space previously planned for that purpose. The medical supply service had to be designed for overhead storage which required the installation of a totally free standing mezzanine not previously incorporated into the plan. To complete the preliminary work for the new master plan, a stairwell was installed from the basement to the first floor administration area to comply with life safety codes. The hospital was constructed using post-tension cables which had to be cut and reconnected to create the opening in the slab required for the stairwell.
