The South Brunswick High School project included a new 35,000 SF, 2-story, science classroom complete with a salt water aquarium, laboratories, science casework, green house, fume hoods and an elevator. The new 9,000 SF auxiliary gymnasium housed a basketball court, volleyball court, and wrestling area. There were locker rooms, and gang toilets added between the gymnasiums. A new 14,000 SF cafeteria and kitchen were constructed to feed the entire school. A music suite was also included as well as a 4,000 SF library/media center. After the new buildings were completed, Group III was asked to completely renovated the 105,000 SF existing school in phases to accommodate the school schedule.
The site utilities were completely revamped to accommodate the new additions and renovations. There was a new parking lot with associated site lighting was added and existing parking lot was repaved. The utilities were installed in a high ground water area. Much of the area to include utilities and footings had to be well pointed to insure proper installation. This project is approximately 3 miles from the shoreline. The intercom system for the whole school was updated and a new sound system for the music room was installed as well as CCTV. A sophisticated electronic building management system was installed.
